Jean Dorshimer (Stegle)

Obituary:

Jean Elizabeth, after a courageous year-long battle with brain cancer, Jean passed away peacefully on November 4, 2011 surrounded by her loving family at home. She was born on October 8, 1946 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Jean was an avid gardener and could always see the beauty among the weeds. She loved combing the state for new garden centers, looking for just the right plant or flower. During the colder months, Jean spent her time creating one of the many wonderful quilted pieces she gifted to her family and friends. She enjoyed the thrill of the fabric hunt as much as the countless evenings spent with needle and thread. When she wasn't digging in the garden or working on a quilt, Jean was at the beach spending time with her family. Jean graduated from Bogota High School in 1964 and went on to medical technical school in New York City. After graduating, she worked at Englewood and Hackensack University Medical Center as a phlebotomist. Jean began working part-time after moving to Branford, Connecticut in 1973. She returned to New Jersey in 1979 and began her career at the Associates in Urology in Wayne, NJ where she eventually became Medical Office Manager. Jean was also part owner of West Milford Hardware in New Jersey, a business she started with her loving husband in 1989. Jean was the daughter of the late Elizabeth and Thomas Dorshimer, and was preceded in death by her husband, her high school sweetheart, Robert James Stegle. She is survived by her brother John Dorshimer of Mahwah, New Jersey and his wife Pat Norman; Her daughter Wendy Jean Wallace of Middletown, Delaware and her husband David; Robert James Stegle Jr and Stephanie Stamm of Salt Lake City, Utah; her granddaughter Morgan Elizabeth Wallace; and her grandsons Brandon Tyler Wallace, Christopher David Wallace and Jason Robert Wallace.
